Job Description

Job Title:
Machine Operator / Forming Fabricator Job Description This role focuses on setting up and operating industrial forming and fabrication equipment to produce high-quality detail parts used in large aerospace components. You will work both independently and as part of a production team to follow manufacturing plans, interpret engineering drawings, and ensure that all parts meet strict quality and safety standards. The position involves hands-on machine operation, precise measurement and inspection, and consistent adherence to production procedures and documentation requirements. Responsibilities Follow all production, safety, and administrative policies to ensure a safe and compliant work area. Review manufacturing plans, engineering data, blueprints, and setup instructions before starting each job. Set up and operate machines such as hydraulic shears, chop saws, and related forming equipment according to specifications. Operate forklifts to move raw materials, work-in-process, and finished parts between workstations and staging areas. Inspect first-piece parts using gauges, calipers, mylars, micrometers, and blueprints to verify conformance to specifications. Perform 100% inspection of all parts produced to maintain consistent quality standards. Record accurate part counts, complete labor cards, and document any non-conformance issues as required. Perform minor machine maintenance, including basic troubleshooting and alignment checks, to keep equipment in proper working condition. Tear down setups after jobs are completed and return tools, fixtures, and equipment to their proper locations. Move completed parts to the next operation or designated staging area in an organized and timely manner. Participate in process improvement initiatives and team meetings to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and communicate professionally with team members and leadership. Perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods, as required by production needs. Essential Skills Proven machine operation experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. Ability to read, understand, and work from manufacturing drawings, engineering data, and blueprints. Proficiency using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and mylars for part inspection. Hands-on experience setting up and operating industrial machines such as hydraulic shears and chop saws. Ability to operate a forklift safely to move materials and finished parts. Capability to perform basic troubleshooting and minor maintenance on production machines. Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform 100% inspection and maintain high quality standards. Comfort working in a loud, hot, heavy industrial environment with large machinery. Physical ability to perform laborious work, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing. Reliable documentation skills for completing part counts, labor cards, and non-conformance reports. Ability to follow safety procedures consistently and use required personal protective equipment. Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in an industrial environment producing large metal or aerospace components. Previous experience with process improvement activities in a manufacturing setting. Familiarity with maintaining proper machine alignment and setup for forming and fabrication operations. Comfort participating in team meetings and contributing ideas to improve safety, quality, and throughput. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility that produces large airplane parts. You will work on the 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The environment includes large, loud machines that can become hot during operation, and you will frequently work around heavy equipment and moving materials. Personal protective equipment, including ear plugs, safety glasses, and other required PPE, must be worn at all times in designated areas. The work involves standing for long periods, operating industrial machinery and forklifts, and handling heavy parts in a fast-paced production setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Vista, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
