POSITION SUMMARY
The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and quality-focused operation of beverage manufacturing equipment. This position operates, monitors, adjusts, and performs basic troubleshooting on production equipment to ensure products are manufactured according to company specifications, food safety standards, and production schedules. The Machine Operator maintains equipment performance while minimizing downtime, waste, and product loss.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate assigned production equipment including fillers, cappers, labelers, conveyors, depalletizers, palletizers, case packers, shrink wrappers, rinsers, and other packaging equipment. Start up, operate, monitor, and shut down equipment according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Perform equipment changeovers for different product sizes, labels, and packaging configurations. Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain production efficiency. Maintain required production rates while ensuring product quality. Conduct routine quality inspections throughout production.
Verify product specifications including:
Fill levels Torque specifications Cap placement Label placement Date coding Packaging integrity Remove defective products from the production line. Complete required quality documentation accurately and timely. Report quality concerns immediately to Quality Assurance or Production Management. Perform routine machine inspections before, during, and after production. Clean and sanitize equipment according to sanitation procedures. Lubricate equipment as required. Perform minor mechanical adjustments and preventative maintenance. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and notify Maintenance when repairs exceed operator capability. Assist Maintenance during equipment repairs and scheduled maintenance. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Adhere to food safety and sanitation requirements. Maintain compliance with
HACCP, SQF/FSSC 22000, FDA
regulations, and company quality standards. Complete required production and sanitation documentation. Ensure proper lot code and product traceability. Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to safely operate automated production equipment. Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read production schedules and work instructions. Strong attention to detail. Basic math and measurement skills. Ability to complete production documentation accurately. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
