Summary:
The Machine Operator 2 will setup, observe and maintain one or more centerless grinding, and thru-feed machines. The machine operator will be required to measure and inspect parts.
Essential Functions:
Determine the appropriate tools and equipment needed to perform a jobCalculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipersRead blueprints and job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and plan operational sequencesSet-up and start machines, pull handles, use part fixtures, etc. or use other means to engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms, etc.

Manually position, adjust and secure stock material or work pieces against stops, in fixtures, or automatic feeding mechanismsMonitor the feed and speed of machines during the grinding processObserve the machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions; adjust machines as necessaryInspect work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to determine accuracy of machine operation using micrometers, gages, templates or other measuring instrumentsPerform minor machine maintenance such as oiling or cleaning machines, adding coolant to machine reservoirs, etc.

Perform other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Must be a U.S. Person as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work without restrictions with ITAR related dataHigh School Degree or G.E.D3+ years of experience Desired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to troubleshoot causes of operating errors and determine appropriate actions.

Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization. Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices. Ability to read, write, and understand English at a functional level.

Ability to travel 5-10% when required.
