Blending Operator
POSITION SUMMARY
The Blending Operator is responsible for executing production blending activities in accordance with established work orders, batch sheets, and standard operating procedures. This role ensures accurate measurement, mixing, documentation, and monitoring of raw materials and finished blends while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The Blending Operator plays a critical role in maintaining product consistency, production efficiency, and operational safety within a regulated manufacturing environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute blending instructions according to production schedules and approved batch sheets.
  • Accurately measure, load, and mix raw materials including ethanol, flavorings, and additives.
  • Operate pumps, valves, transfer systems, and blending equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor blend temperatures, flow rates, tank levels, and equipment readings to maintain product specifications.
  • Collect and submit product samples to the Quality Control laboratory as required.
  • Complete accurate blending records, batch documentation, and production logs.
  • Ensure all documentation meets company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow all company safety rules, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Handle ethanol and other materials in accordance with regulatory and environmental guidelines.
  • Maintain awareness of OSHA and plant safety standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings and required training.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of blending tanks, pumps, lines, and work areas.
  • Perform routine inspections of valves, seals, hoses, and equipment.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly to prevent downtime.
  • Assist with unloading and loading of raw materials and finished products as needed.
  • Work closely with production operators, maintenance staff, and Quality Control personnel.
  • Communicate shift updates and production status clearly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 1-3 years of manufacturing, blending, or industrial production experience preferred.
  • Experience in ethanol, beverage alcohol, chemical, or regulated production environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, batch sheets, and SOPs.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to operate valves, pumps, and meters.
  • Strong math and measurement skills with attention to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or shifts, as production requires.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Work in production and warehouse environments with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to safely handle chemicals, ethanol, and blending materials with proper PPE.
