Job Description
Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description We are looking for a Machine Operator to support and take ownership of a high-volume manufacturing line producing critical thermal protection components for advanced aerospace systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys diagnosing problems, tearing into equipment, and keeping complex machinery running at peak performance. In this position, you will operate, troubleshoot, and maintain highly automated production equipment that integrates mechanical assemblies, pneumatics, fluid systems, instrumentation, robotics, and touchscreen HMI controls. Rather than simply running a machine, you will act as the primary on-shift problem solver—identifying issues, making mechanical adjustments, and preventing downtime through hands-on intervention. Responsibilities Operate and maintain complex production equipment with a strong focus on mechanical systems performance and reliability . Independently troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, pneumatic, and fluid-related issues that affect equipment uptime and product quality. Take full ownership of assigned equipment and production line, ensuring consistent operation throughout the shift. Diagnose equipment faults using a combination of mechanical inspection, system feedback, alarms, and process data from HMI interfaces. Perform mechanical adjustments, component replacements, and system fine-tuning to restore and optimize performance. Execute equipment setups, changeovers, and line recovery activities with a focus on minimizing downtime. Interpret and apply work instructions, mechanical drawings, and schematics to safely and accurately perform tasks. Monitor key process parameters and make real-time mechanical or system-level corrections to maintain strict quality standards. Document machine conditions, repairs, adjustments, and process changes in a clear and detailed manner. Support equipment upgrades, preventative maintenance activities, and new system introductions alongside engineering teams. Required Skills & Experience Hands-on experience working with mechanical systems , preferably in an industrial, automotive, heavy equipment, or manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing failures, replacing components, and restoring system functionality. Practical knowledge of pneumatics, fluid systems, and basic instrumentation used in automated equipment. Comfort working with electrically controlled machinery (sensors, actuators, interlocks), even if not an electrician by trade. Experience interacting with touchscreen HMIs or digital control interfaces to monitor system status and alarms. Ability to read and follow technical documentation such as mechanical drawings, schematics, and process instructions. Ownership mindset—able to independently manage issues, prioritize repairs, and maintain equipment through long shifts. Willingness to work in a fast-paced production environment where equipment problems must be solved quickly and safely. Preferred Qualifications Experience as a mechanic, maintenance technician, or similar hands-on mechanical role prior to manufacturing work. Experience working on highly automated production lines, robotics, or complex machinery. Exposure to high-spec, regulated manufacturing environments where precision and repeatability are critical. Familiarity with preventative maintenance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts. Comfort working around chemicals, fluids, and industrial tooling while following strict safety procedures. Work Schedule This role operates on a 12-hour shift schedule with two available shifts:Day Shift:
