Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Utility Worker - Planing Mill Utility Workers in our Planing Mill play an essential role in keeping daily production running smoothly. This position supports machine operations, material handling, quality checks, equipment upkeep, and a clean, safe work environment, helping ensure efficiency, quality, and teamwork every shift. This is a full-time, on-site role in Marianna, FL .
Job Responsibilities Machine Operation:
Monitor and control automated production equipment such as edgers, trimmers, conveyors, and other mill systems.
Material Handling:
Move, cull, stack, and roughcut boards; load and offbear lumber by hand or machinery.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect lumber for defects, dimensional accuracy, miscuts, and moisture.
Equipment Maintenance Support:
Perform routine checks, clear jams, lubricate parts, and assist with some maintenance and mechanical repairs.
Safety & Cleanliness:
Follow OSHA requirements, wear required PPE, clear sawdust/bark/debris regularly, and adhere to lockout policies. Qualifications Prompt and regular attendance is required. Ability to safely work while standing for long durations, including stooping, kneeling, pushing/pulling, and working around a production environment. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 50 lbs occasionally. Ability to ascend and descend stairs as needed for job duties. Intermediate ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and industrial machinery. Must be able to follow verbal and/or written instructions. High school diploma or GED required. Ability to work well with others and support a team-based environment.
Compensation and Benefits Pay Rate:
$19.45/hour Shift Monday-Friday 5:30PM-5:00AM Employees are offered through
