SUMMARY:
The person in this position operates equipment as part of a crew to build, repair, or maintain track.
•Qualified candidate must have prior experience operating heavy equipment, and hold a valid CDL Class
A. RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures Perform equipment safety and maintenance checks Report any and all defects or needed repairs to supervisor Participate in job briefings and understand daily production goals Perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and adjustments to equipment as needed Fill out and maintain required regulatory forms Promote a safe and drug-free working environment Perform other duties as assigned such as but not limited to working as a Track Laborer
REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE
At least two years of verifiable experience operating heavy equipment OR railroad maintenance-of-way equipment (grapple truck as an example) Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment problems Ability to understand and carry out oral and written communication, both general and technical Ability to occasionally lift up to sixty pounds Ability to operate equipment in varying working and weather conditions
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS
High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required,
Class A Employment Requirements:
Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision medical review May be subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing including pre-employment drug screening Background screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving history

Must live within 50 miles of assigned location or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.
