Job Description

Job Title:
Batch Mixer Job Description This role focuses on blending batches to produce high-quality adhesives, sealants, and coatings in a controlled manufacturing environment. You will follow detailed recipes and cookbooks, work with dry chemicals, and operate production equipment to ensure consistent, accurate, and safe batch production. Responsibilities Blend batches to produce adhesives, sealants, and coatings according to established recipes and process instructions. Follow recipe guides and cookbooks to measure, weigh, and mix raw ingredients accurately. Work with dry chemicals in a safe and controlled manner while using appropriate personal protective equipment, including a respirator. Set up machinery, hoses, and tankers to support batch mixing and production activities. Stage, gather, and organize raw materials from designated rooms and areas for production runs. Use vacuums and other equipment to move and stage products and raw materials efficiently. Perform inspections on batches, equipment, and materials to verify quality and compliance with standards. Carry out basic maintenance and upkeep of machinery and products to ensure reliable operation. Sweep workstations, clean equipment, and keep machinery and production areas free of debris. Support packaging activities such as filling, bottling, and line work as needed. Perform manual loading and other labor-intensive tasks, including heavy lifting, to support production. Operate a sit-down forklift to move materials and finished products safely around the facility. Collaborate closely with the Lead/Senior Operator to receive training, learn procedures, and master batch mixing processes. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working around machinery, conveyors, and other production equipment. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by maintaining an organized, efficient, and clean work area. Essential Skills At least 3+ years of experience in mixing, blending, or similar batch production work. Experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic manufacturing environments. Hands-on experience with packaging operations, including bottling and production line work. Proficiency in weighing and mixing materials accurately according to specified recipes. Ability to perform manual loading and labor-intensive tasks, including heavy lifting. Experience operating a sit-down forklift in a production or warehouse environment. Ability to work safely with dry chemicals while using a respirator and other protective equipment. High school diploma or GED. Ability to wear steel-toe footwear and adhere to required safety attire. Willingness and ability to work 1st shift (approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) with occasional overtime and some Saturday availability. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in batch mixing, batch making, or batch testing in a manufacturing setting. Experience following detailed recipes or cookbooks in an industrial environment. Familiarity with filling, hand-filling, and bottling processes. Comfort working with tankers, hoses, and blending equipment in a batch mixing area. Ability to learn quickly from a Lead or Senior Operator and adapt to new tasks and equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality when performing inspections and maintenance. Comfort working in a smaller facility with multiple departments and collaborative workflows. Work Environment This is a smaller, organized facility that operates in continuous improvement mode, with a clean warehouse and production floor designed to allow products to flow easily throughout. The batch mixing area includes different tankers and blending equipment, with batch mixers located in dedicated rooms. You will work with dry chemicals in a controlled setting and use respirators as part of standard safety practices. The environment involves working around machinery, conveyors, and other production departments, with regular collaboration and on-the-job training. The position is on 1st shift, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a few hours of overtime and occasional, non-mandatory Saturday work. Steel-toe footwear and appropriate safety attire are required, and you will frequently perform manual labor, heavy lifting, and forklift operation as part of daily tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alsip, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
