Job Description

Process Technician Location:
Just outside of Chicago, IL
DEPARTMENT
Molding Plants
REPORTS TO
Shift Supervisor / Plant Manager
OVERALL ROLE
This position is responsible for molding parts in accordance with internal and external customer requirements. This includes machine setup, auxiliary equipment setup, and process parameter input. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a neat and orderly work area in accordance with 5S standards and adhering to safety policies. The Process Technician position is divided into three classifications based on skill set and responsibility, beginning with the "C" level and progressing through to an "A" level.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The following responsibilities are based on these level/classifications; each level is also responsible for all aspects of the levels beneath them. Level C Complete B-level training curriculum during Level C Perform mold setups and color changes to meet production demands Set molding process parameters with assistance from a foreman, supervisor, or A/B-level Process Technicians Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency and work with quality inspectors to identify defects Perform material handler duties as assigned Level B Complete A-level training curriculum during Level B Set molding process parameters to ensure part quality Troubleshoot process, machine, and auxiliary equipment issues to ensure quality and reduce downtime Learn new manufacturing technology as it is introduced Partner with supervisors and/or lead molding technicians to improve productivity and reduce scrap and defects Level A Work with quality inspectors to identify defects and make informed process adjustments Sample new and existing molds Stay current with new molding, auxiliary equipment, and robotics technology Promote safety by following all policies and setting a positive example Maintain 5S standards and plant cleanliness Assume supervisor or foreman responsibilities in their absence

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent will: Stand or walk most of the shift Frequently bend, twist, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and climb machinery with proper fall protection Occasionally push, pull, and lift 75 lbs. or more Occasionally lift above waist or shoulder level up to and exceeding 75 lbs. Perform repetitive hand, wrist, finger, and foot movements Occasionally perform keyboarding tasks Frequently be exposed to odors, dust, and oil/grease
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required Ability to complete C-level molding technician training requirements Ability to read and write English and follow written and verbal instructions Mechanical aptitude and math proficiency Computer proficiency
