Grinding Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a skilled Grinding Machine Operator with experience in setting up and operating older manual grinders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of precision machining, tight tolerances, and the ability to read blueprints and perform basic math calculations. Responsibilities Set up and operate grinding machines (OD/ID or surface) depending on shop requirements. Perform precision grinding on various metal components. Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions. Make necessary offsets, adjust tooling, and dial in set-ups for optimal performance. Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision gauges. Essential Skills 2+ years of experience with ID/OD grinding, preferably with older manual machines. Strong understanding of precision machining and tight tolerances. Ability to read blueprints and perform basic math calculations. Experience with inspection tools such as micrometers and bore gauges. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in aerospace industry is a plus. Proficient with centerless grinding and manual machines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
