Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to set up and operate CNC machines, including Okuma Lathe machines and Seiki Mills. The successful candidate will read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings, ensuring that all parts meet quality standards through precise measurement and inspection. The role involves monitoring machine operations, making necessary adjustments to maintain product quality and efficiency, and performing routine maintenance on machines while reporting any mechanical issues. A clean and organized work area must be maintained in compliance with safety regulations, and production logs and documentation should be completed accurately and on time. Collaboration with team members and supervisors is key to meeting production goals. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC machines, including Okuma Lathe machines and Seiki Mills. Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings. Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure quality standards. Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed to maintain product quality and efficiency. Perform routine maintenance on machines and report any mechanical issues. Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety regulations. Complete production logs and documentation accurately and on time. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals. Essential Skills Experience in machine operation and production. Experience operating CNC Mills and Lathes. Previous experience in a machine shop environment. Energetic and willing to train. Desire to build a career in machining. Ability to lift 50lbs. Proficiency in English communication. Excellent blueprint and schematics reading skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with hand tools, power tools, and general production. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Work Environment The work environment is focused on the aerospace industry, providing parts and services. It is a small, hot, and loud setting with a team of 10 operators on the floor, fostering a close-knit working atmosphere. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morton Grove, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
