Job Title:
Production Chemist Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Production Chemist to join our team. This role is vital in performing chemical synthesis on a multi-kilo scale and ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Responsibilities Perform chemical synthesis on a multi-kilo scale and execute via batch record. Maintain documentation standards to meet GMP requirements, including recording of charges/transfers, acknowledging actions as they are performed, and documenting key observations related to specific operations. Set up, operate, and clean all plant equipment such as reactors, centrifuges, filter dryers, shelf dryers, and milling equipment. Participate in staging of raw materials, loading raw materials into equipment, and unloading intermediates and products from dryers. Read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively in a group setting. Collaborate with Chemical Engineers to produce R D Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). Essential Skills Experience with GMP, GLP, and pharmaceutical quality standards. Proficiency in batch record management and chemical transfers. Knowledge of chemistry and ability to operate various equipment such as reactors and centrifuges. Competence in using Microsoft Word and conducting chromatography and wet chemistry. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in compounding pharmaceuticals and reading batch records. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Manual compounding skills. SAP experience is a plus. Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and working with reactors. Associates or Bachelor's degree in chemistry or engineering preferred. Computer proficiency required. Experience in a production facility preferred. Willingness to handle chemicals with engineering and safety controls in place. Willingness to undergo annual physical and drug screening. Mechanical aptitude and basic math proficiency. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to changing situations. Work Environment The position will be available on all shifts. The company is small but growing, having recently received new funding. Expect to use a respirator and engage in moderate physical activity, including extended periods of standing and the ability to lift up to fifty pounds. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Niles, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
