Job Description

Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description Join a dynamic team where large coils of metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and steel are transformed into smaller coils or large sheets. As a machine operator, you will use cranes to load these coils into machines and contribute to the production process. This is a Union shop, and you will have the opportunity to join the Union after 90 days. Responsibilities Operate machinery to cut large coils of metal into smaller coils or large sheets. Start by performing packing duties on the production line, ensuring metals are placed on crates for further handling. Cross-train on using forklifts and overhead cranes. Participate in machine operation and inspection processes. Adhere to safety protocols and ensure no lifting over 50 lbs; heavier tasks are handled by additional personnel. Essential Skills Past experience in manufacturing. Willingness to work required hours, including Saturdays when needed. Comfortable working in metal manufacturing environments with large metal coils. Basic English knowledge; bilingual candidates are welcome. Additional Skills & Qualifications Machine setup experience. Experience working with metal coils. Work Environment Be part of a team of 30 production employees in a facility equipped with overhead cranes for handling metal coils. Trucks drive directly into the facility for loading, and you will also participate in a carpentry shop area dedicated to crating the products. Work hours are Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with optional Saturday shifts and no lifting over 50 lbs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northbrook, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.56 - $24.56/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
