Job Title:
Electronic Automotive Production Machine Operator Job Description This role operates automated production equipment in a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment to manufacture and inspect OEM electronic components for the automotive industry. You will run machines, monitor processes, perform basic adjustments, and ensure parts meet quality and safety standards while supporting continuous improvement and environmental initiatives. Responsibilities Work from clear verbal instructions, written documentation, and standard work instructions to perform daily tasks accurately and consistently. Set up and make routine adjustments to production equipment for defined variables such as length, temperature, and process speed to maintain proper operation. Load raw materials into machines, perform minor changeovers, and ensure the correct materials are in use for each production run. Monitor machine operations continuously to maintain a steady flow of production and identify issues before they impact quality or throughput. Inspect completed parts visually and by feel to confirm they meet job specifications and quality standards, including identifying visual defects on small components. Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift to ensure equipment is in proper working condition and the cleanroom environment remains sanitary. Accurately complete activity logs and production records, documenting machine settings, output, and any issues encountered during the shift. Participate in cross-training with related positions to build flexibility across departments and support broader production needs. Support and participate in the company's management and quality systems, including continuous improvement initiatives and adherence to established procedures. Notify the group leader or supervisor promptly of any problems, equipment malfunctions, or non-conforming product detected during production. Support and implement the environmental policy as it relates to daily work activities, including proper handling of materials and waste. Perform other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably related to production, inspection, or machine operation within the cleanroom environment. Stand for the entire 8-hour shift while operating equipment and handling parts, maintaining focus and attention to detail throughout. Lift and move materials, typically weighing under fifteen pounds, as part of loading machines and handling components. Adhere strictly to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including wearing required cleanroom garments such as gowns, hairnets, shoe covers, and appropriate clothing. Follow all safety, cleanliness, and organizational standards to maintain a sterile, well-ordered production area comparable to a medical environment. Essential Skills At least 1 year of previous production, inspection, or machine operating experience. Experience in manufacturing inspection, machine operation, assembly, or production environments. Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and operate assembly and production machinery. Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow instructions, complete documentation, and communicate with team members. Strong attention to detail and excellent visual acuity to identify visual defects on small electronic components. Good manual dexterity to handle small parts and perform precise tasks while operating machines. Comfort standing for 8 hours per shift and performing repetitive tasks in a production environment. Comfort working in a GMP environment, including wearing a hair net, gown, and other cleanroom attire. Reliable attendance with a proven track record of consistent work history, supported by references. Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization of machines and workstations before and after each shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications 2+ years of manufacturing operating experience is preferred. Previous experience working within the automotive industry is a plus. Familiarity with cleanroom or GMP environments is beneficial. Experience with basic machine adjustments such as speed, temperature, or length settings. Comfort working in departments such as Power Seat Switch (PSS), Electrical Component Unit (ECU), or Surface Mount Technology (SMT). Willingness to participate in cross-training and support related roles within production. Ability to adapt to standardized work processes and continuous improvement initiatives. Why Work Here? The company invests in its people through comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, disability insurance, a 401(k) match, and tuition reimbursement to support your long-term growth. You will join a stable operation with clear processes, strong quality systems, and opportunities to expand your skills through cross-training and exposure to multiple production departments. Work Environment The facility is a large, approximately 350,000-square-foot operation with around 250 employees across production and warehouse functions. The primary work area for this role is the production cleanroom, which is state-of-the-art, climate controlled, well lit, and extremely clean—similar to a hospital environment, with sterile and meticulously organized workspaces. The cleanroom includes multiple departments, such as the Power Seat Switch (PSS), Electrical Component Unit (ECU), and Surface Mount Technology (SMT), each focused on different electronic components. The standard shift for this position is 1st shift, from 5:30 am to 1:45 pm, Monday through Friday. In the production cleanroom, you must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including wearing a gown, hairnet, and shoe covers every shift. Steel-toe shoes are not required in the cleanroom departments. The broader facility also includes warehouse areas for shipping, receiving, and material management, which are likewise clean, organized, and climate controlled.
