Packaging Technician Job Description The Packaging Technician assembles, labels, and inspects supplies to ensure they meet strict standards. This temporary role supports multiple phases packaging, including manual and automated operations. The position plays a key role in preparing accurately labeled product and boxes. Responsibilities Package and label products Perform manual and automated filling and packaging of bottled products independently while monitoring and verifying labeling accuracy Operate sealing and packaging machinery to ensure proper labeling, placement, and secure closure of containers. Perform final checks of in-process work and finished products to verify quality, completeness, and labeling accuracy before packing. Pack finished goods into appropriately labeled containers and boxes for storage or shipment. Follow all standard operating procedures, good manufacturing practices, and safety guidelines consistently. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED. Strong attention to detail, especially for labels and packaging Clear and legible handwriting suitable for documentation and labeling in a regulated environment. Comfort working on production and assembly lines in a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous manufacturing or production experience, particularly in a goal-oriented environment, is preferred. Warehouse experience, including picking, packing, and inventory work, is beneficial. Experience with material handling in a production or manufacturing setting is beneficial. Candidates from fast food or retail backgrounds may be considered if they demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, and stable work history. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a packaging department within a clean room environment. The position offers a second shift from 2:45 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with frequent additional work on Fridays from about 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Overtime is currently mandatory, typically in 6-hour increments, and may include 4-5 extra days per month (Friday or Saturday depending on shift and occasional Sundays), subject to production needs. The role requires periodic work in a cold room environment (approximately 35-46°F), with appropriate cold-weather personal protective equipment provided; all hours worked in the cold room receive an additional hourly premium. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $19.25/hr.
