Job Title:
Machine Operator / Production Operator Job Description The Machine Operator / Production Operator safely operates and maintains production machinery to meet quality, efficiency, and safety goals in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, consistent adherence to standardized procedures, and effective collaboration with team members to support high manufacturing standards and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Operate, monitor, and maintain production machinery safely and efficiently in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Follow standardized work instructions, operating procedures, and safety regulations at all times. Inspect equipment regularly and perform routine Total Quality Maintenance (TQM) checks to ensure optimal performance. Measure and inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, tape measures, and other hand tools to verify they meet quality specifications. Conduct quality inspection and quality control checks on parts and assemblies to maintain high standards. Identify mechanical, safety, or production issues promptly and report them to the appropriate personnel. Track hourly production results and accurately document output and equipment status. Communicate equipment status, production concerns, and improvement ideas clearly to supervisors and team members. Support general production activities, including assembly, assembly line work, and general labor tasks as needed. Assist with operating CNC machines, press brakes, lasers, and related equipment when required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company policies. Contribute to a positive team environment by demonstrating reliability, strong work ethic, and respect for coworkers. Essential Skills Proven ability to operate and monitor production machinery safely and efficiently. Experience with production, general production, and general labor in a manufacturing or similar environment. Ability to perform quality assurance, quality control, and quality inspection tasks on parts and assemblies. Proficiency using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, tape measures, and hand tools. Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to identify and address equipment or production issues. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards. Ability to follow standardized work instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines consistently. Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic, including reliability across assigned shifts. Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs regularly and to lift items to chest height when required. High school diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with machine operation and machine setup in a manufacturing environment. Background in CNC machine operation, including basic CNC knowledge. Exposure to operating press brake and laser equipment. Experience working on an assembly line or in an assembly-focused role. Familiarity with Total Quality Maintenance (TQM) practices. Comfort working with hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing production demands and continuous improvement initiatives. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled production environment focused on precision manufacturing for the automotive industry. Team members work with production machinery, CNC equipment, press brakes, lasers, and a variety of measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, tape measures, and hand tools. The facility culture emphasizes quality, innovation, continuous improvement, and investment in people. The Jeffersonville location operates as a smaller facility, offering the opportunity to join a growing site and contribute from the ground up. Typical shift schedules include 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at Jeffersonville, and 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Monday through Friday as well as a 4-on, 2-off schedule from 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. at the Tell City location.
