We are looking to hire a Barrel Hand for our Lux Row Distillery in Bardstown, KY. Under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor, this position is responsible for receiving, filling, placement of barrels in warehouse and performing inspections and minor coopering of barrels. What will you do? Be able to manually handle moving 500 lb. barrels of spirits into and out of warehouses. Filling barrels from process tanks. Reducing process tanks down to desired proof. Dumping aged barrels into dump trough. Filling tanker trucks from processing tanks. Receiving and inspecting new barrels prior to being filled. Performing minor coopering of barrels when necessary Maintaining good housekeeping in process room and warehouses. Physical requirements include regularly standing, using hands and arms to reach, handle and feel for objects or tools. Employee frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; occasionally required to climb or balance. Must be able to physically navigate plant environment, including the repetitive climbing of stairs and elevated walkways. Comply with all necessary Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Safety requirements. Other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor or Distillery Operations Manager. What do you need to bring to the table? A minimum of two years relevant experience. A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. Self-starter, work independently and organized with basic computer skills. Physical demands requiring lifting of 50 pounds or more at times and moving 500 pound barrels. Possessing a CDL is preferred. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
