Walton, KY Material Yard Worker Requirements/Qualifications Previous material handling, lumberyard, construction supply, warehouse, or outdoor labor experience preferred. Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 80 pounds. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to perform physically demanding material handling duties throughout the workday. Previous forklift operating experience preferred. Ability to safely load and unload heavy construction and fencing materials. Experience filling customer orders and organizing materials preferred. Ability to accurately identify materials and verify customer order quantities. Strong attention to detail when preparing and loading orders. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to assist with gate fabrication. Ability to safely use tools and equipment associated with material yard operations. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, carry, and lift throughout the shift. Strong understanding of safe lifting techniques and material handling procedures. Ability to maintain organized outdoor storage and work areas. Ability to follow established workplace safety procedures. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to prioritize customer orders and daily yard responsibilities. Willingness to perform general cleaning and maintenance of the material yard. Ability to work efficiently in a physically active environment. Boots required; steel-toe footwear is not mandatory. Dependable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic required. About the Material Yard Worker Role As a Material Yard Worker, your responsibilities will include: Work exclusively in the outdoor material yard, supporting daily yard operations. Fill and prepare customer orders for pickup and distribution. Load fencing materials and other products into customer vehicles. Unload incoming materials and organize them in designated storage areas. Operate forklifts to move and position materials throughout the yard. Assist with fabricating gates according to customer and company specifications. Organize fencing supplies, gates, and related materials. Verify customer orders to ensure correct products and quantities are provided. Safely lift, carry, and transport materials weighing up to 80 pounds. Assist customers with loading materials while following established safety procedures. Maintain accurate organization of materials throughout the outdoor lot. Move and arrange products to maintain accessible storage locations. Inspect materials for visible damage or quality concerns. Report damaged products or inventory discrepancies to supervisors. Keep the material yard clean, organized, and free of unnecessary debris. Maintain clear walkways, loading areas, and forklift travel paths. Assist with general yard cleanup and material organization. Follow proper forklift operating and material handling procedures. Use appropriate lifting techniques when moving heavy materials. Maintain a safe working environment around vehicles and material handling equipment. Work cooperatively with yard employees to complete customer orders efficiently. Communicate material shortages or customer order concerns to supervisors. Support daily yard operations during periods of increased customer activity. Complete additional material handling, gate fabrication, and yard maintenance duties as assigned.
