Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated Shop Hand & Saw Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role involves supporting daily shop operations, operating various cutting and fabrication machinery, and ensuring the safe and efficient production of metal components. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills in metal fabrication and machining within a dynamic work environment. Duties Assist in loading, unloading and measuring material onto our band saw. Marking material, transferring heat numbers, controlling checklists of what is and is not cut. Operate forklift. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to determine cutting dimensions and fabrication requirements. Load and unload material from trucks. Support welding, forming, and assembly processes by preparing materials and handling hand tools safely. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering strictly to safety protocols in all shop activities. Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment to move heavy materials efficiently while following safety guidelines. Follow shop math principles for accurate measurement conversions and calculations necessary for fabrication tasks. Support quality inspection procedures by verifying dimensions and ensuring finished products meet specifications. Ability to perform shop math calculations accurately for machining and fabrication processes. Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members on production tasks.
