Location New Orleans, LA Job Category Manufacturing & Production Division Lapeyre Stair Job Description (General Summary) Lapeyre Stair has a position available for a Machine Operator (tube bending). Lapeyre Stair constructs precision built metal stair systems using a state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing system. The Lapeyre Stair product line includes Alternating Tread stairs, Steel Egress stairs (welded and bolted) as well as crossover systems, exit and intermediate platforms, and safety gates. Job Responsibilities and Requirements Responsibilities Set up and operate BLM CNC tube-bending machines, including loading programs and adjusting equipment to meet dimensional requirements. Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, work instructions, specifications, and bend data sheets. Inspect first-piece, in-process, and finished parts using calipers, tape measures, angle gauges, templates, and other measuring tools. Troubleshoot bending defects, correct process issues, monitor machine performance, and report equipment concerns. Safely handle raw materials and finished products while maintaining accurate production and quality records. Perform routine preventive maintenance and housekeeping to support safety and machine uptime. Partner with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes, reduce setup time and scrap, and strengthen first-pass quality. Meet expectations for production output, safety compliance, quality, scrap reduction, setup efficiency, and equipment uptime. Requirements High school diploma or GED. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications. Knowledge of measuring instruments and quality inspection techniques. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Basic computer skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job description for this position, including lifting up to 68 lbs. Preferred Requirements At least two years of CNC tube-bending equipment experience. Experience operating and troubleshooting BLM tube benders. Experience with tube fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, welding, and forming. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles. Experience with robotic loading and unloading systems.
