Job Description

Set-Up Lead Overview Our Set-Up Lead is an invaluable member of The Barn at Blackstone Team. Their role is to be the "magician" behind the scenes. They are the ones that will lead their team to create the spaces our clients envision in their heads and can only hope to achieve. The Set-Up Lead and their team will set up the entire event space to perfection with everything from tables & chairs to the final spoon or décor piece. They must go above and beyond to create the extraordinary experiences we expect to deliver to our guests. General Responsibilities
  • They will lead by example, direct, and teach a set-up assistant(s) the knowledge to complete all the needed set-up tasks, along with the attention to detail, high expectations, and protocols here at The Barn at Blackstone.
  • To set up all the weddings and multiple events throughout our season, with their assistant(s), in all event areas on The Blackstone National property.
  • To read and follow all the information provided to set up all the events correctly. This includes being able to understand and replicate the floorplan provided with furniture etc...
  • Setting up all the décor provided by the wedding couples and/or The Barn. This décor will either come with exact set up directions for placement or will need to be designed by the set-up lead.
  • Placement of everything needed in the event space, to host the event, that is stated on the BEO and floorplan (ex. tables, chairs, linens, silverware, glassware, plates, napkins, stations, all inside and outside décor, ceremony décor and chairs, bars, pavilion sides & décor, etc.).
  • Fold all napkins, per the style and color selected by the customer, and place out during set up.
  • Have all set up complete an hour or more before the customer is due on site (this includes all décor). This includes removal of all boxes & bins from event spaces upon completion of the set-up. Qualifications

  • Strong customer service skills Reporting/Meetings The Set-Up Lead will report directly to the Barn at Blackstone National's Event Director and Barn Purchasing & Operations Manager.
They will also be in direct communication with the Event Coordinators, Assistant Event Coordinator(s), Kitchen Teams, and some Barn Ground Assistants. Weekly Overview Meetings (WOM) will be held to discuss the upcoming events and the schedule for setting up those events. The set-up lead will meet with the Director of Events and the Purchasing & Operations Director. Once the events schedule is reviewed, the Purchasing & Operations Manager will produce the schedule for the Set-Up Lead and the assistant(s) through Hot Schedules.
