In this role, you will support the production process by accurately processing orders, handling metal inventory, and operating equipment in a hands-on, industrial environment. You will work closely with a small, experienced team and receive on-the-job training, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude and a desire to build a long-term career in manufacturing. Responsibilities Take and process customer orders accurately, following established procedures and documentation requirements. Locate the correct inventory for each order and cut materials to the specified length with precision. Operate welding equipment to weld bandsaws and properly fold bandsaws for packaging. Package and label completed orders according to work order instructions and quality standards. Prepare orders for shipment by coordinating with the shipping area and ensuring all documentation is complete. Follow paper-driven processes, including reviewing work orders in folders, using stickers and labels from work order travelers, and signing off on completed tasks. Maintain a clean and organized work area while working safely around metal and machinery. Collaborate with team members to ensure production goals and deadlines are met. Demonstrate flexibility by assisting with general production and machine operating tasks as needed. Work a regular schedule of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the option to start up to 1.5 hours early and stay up to 1.5 hours later for additional overtime, as desired. Essential Skills Experience working in an industrial environment. Mechanical aptitude, including basic ability to use hand tools and "turn a wrench." Willingness to perform general production and machine operating tasks. Strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Ability to follow paper-based work orders and documentation processes. Comfort working in a manufacturing environment around metal and machinery. Openness to learning new skills and taking on various tasks to get the job done. Additional Skills & Qualifications Trade school or vocational school experience is welcome. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a small team. Dependability and consistency in attendance and punctuality. Interest in building a long-term career in a stable manufacturing environment. Why Work Here? You will join a stable, long-tenured workforce with an average tenure of over 17 years, reflecting a supportive and secure work environment. Once you transition to permanent status, you will receive comprehensive benefits, including affordable health insurance with a no-deductible plan, low-cost dental coverage, and a 401(k) plan with a 50% match up to 10%. After 90 days as a permanent employee, you will also receive life insurance and both long-term and short-term coverage, supporting your financial security and peace of mind. The vacation program rewards loyalty, starting with 1 week after 90 days, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 4 years, and 4 weeks after 10 years, promoting work-life balance and long-term commitment. You will work in a close-knit team where hard work, reliability, and a good attitude are valued and recognized. Work Environment This role is based in a traditional machine shop environment that operates as a full-service machining, repair, and sharpening facility. The setting is a typical metal-focused shop—neither a clean room nor a dirty environment—where you will work around metal materials, machinery, and production equipment. The team is small, with approximately 28 people in the building, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere where you can get to know your coworkers and learn from experienced colleagues. The standard work schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the option to start up to 1.5 hours early and stay up to 1.5 hours later, providing built-in opportunities for overtime for those who want it, though it is not mandatory. You will follow paper-based processes using work order folders, travelers, stickers, and labels, and you will operate and work around cutting and welding equipment. Attire is typical for an industrial machine shop, with appropriate work clothing and safety gear expected to support a safe and practical working environment.
