Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description This role operates and maintains an automated screw machine in a manufacturing environment. The Machine Operator loads and unloads raw materials, sets up equipment, performs routine maintenance, and inspects finished products to ensure they meet quality standards before moving them to the next workstation. Responsibilities Operate an automated screw machine safely and efficiently throughout the shift. Load raw materials into the machine and unload finished parts from the equipment. Set up the machine according to production specifications and job requirements. Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications before sending them to the next work station. Perform routine maintenance on the machine, including oil changes and coolant changes. Monitor machine performance and report any issues or irregularities promptly. Sweep, clean, and mop the work area to maintain a clean and organized workspace. Pack and unpack materials, parts, and finished products as needed. Move raw materials to the machine and remove finished products from bins. Monitor the machine while the primary operator is on break, following all safety and operating guidelines. Use hand tools and measuring devices, such as tape measures, to support machine operation and product inspection. Follow instructions and direction from the assigned Machine Operator and adhere to all safety procedures. Essential Skills Experience with machine operation in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Ability to load and unload materials safely and efficiently. Capability to perform minor maintenance tasks such as oil changes and coolant changes on machinery. Skill in inspecting parts and finished products for quality and accuracy. Comfort using hand tools to support machine operation and basic maintenance. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how machines operate. Ability to read and use basic measuring tools, including tape measures. Willingness and ability to perform housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and cleaning. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to complete a math and mechanical aptitude test successfully. Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with automated screw machines or similar production equipment. Experience reading and interpreting blueprints or basic technical drawings. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment working alongside other machine operators. Ability to follow detailed instructions from an assigned Machine Operator and work effectively as part of a team. Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to assist with packing, unpacking, and material handling tasks. Why Work Here? The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Safety is a primary focus, and you are expected to follow all safety procedures and instructions from the assigned Machine Operator while maintaining a clean and orderly work area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Agawam, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
