Job Title:
Compounding Technician Job Description The Compounding Technician accurately measures, mixes, and prepares batches according to detailed formulations and recipes in a manufacturing environment. This role operates and maintains compounding equipment, follows batch cards and safety protocols, and collaborates closely with quality control and production teams to ensure products consistently meet quality and safety standards. The position requires strong attention to detail, accurate documentation, and the ability to work independently with valuable ingredients and precise calculations. Responsibilities Accurately measure and mix ingredients according to specific formulations and recipes. Perform precise weighing and calculations to ensure correct ingredient proportions. Follow batch cards meticulously to prepare batches that meet all specifications. Operate, monitor, and maintain compounding equipment and machinery. Conduct product inspections to verify that all products meet quality and safety standards. Provide product samples for quality control testing in the laboratory. Document all processes and maintain accurate, up-to-date records of batches and production activities. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area at all times. Collaborate with quality control and production teams to ensure consistency and quality across all products. Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the compounding process, escalating when necessary. Handle and work carefully with expensive ingredients to minimize waste and maintain product integrity. Apply solid attention to detail when working with product specifications and calculations. Work independently to manage assigned batches and tasks while meeting production timelines. Essential Skills Experience in a compounding or manufacturing environment, preferably in the food and beverage industry. Hands-on experience with compounding, mixing, batch making, and production processes. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a production or laboratory setting. Ability to perform precise weighing, measurements, and calculations for product specifications. Experience operating and maintaining compounding equipment, blenders, and related machinery. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work. Ability to follow detailed instructions, batch cards, and standardized procedures. Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with production and quality control teams. Basic computer skills for record-keeping, documentation, and data entry. Ability to lift and move heavy ingredients and equipment as needed. Comfort working with chemicals, compounds, and laboratory or production materials. Capability to work independently and make sound decisions within defined procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education in food science or a related field is a plus. Experience with distillation or similar processing techniques is an asset. Background in a manufacturing-type setting, ideally within food, beverage, or chemical production. Proven ability to maintain accurate documentation and batch records. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and grow. Ability to interact comfortably with individuals at various levels within the organization. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing-type setting where you will work with compounding equipment, blenders, and other production machinery, as well as expensive ingredients and chemical or food-related compounds. The company provides a uniform, and steel-toed boots are required; during hotter summer months, shorts are allowed as part of the dress code. The environment can become warm, especially in the summer, and requires consistent attention to safety and cleanliness. The culture reflects a family-owned, work-hard-play-hard atmosphere with straightforward communication and an expectation that team members can interact effectively at various levels. The workplace emphasizes independence, expecting you to manage your own calculations, product specifications, and documentation with solid attention to detail. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belcamp, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
