  • 1st Shift Build Your Career in Metal Stamping Manufacturing The Advance Group is hiring an experienced Die Set-Up Technician for a 1st shift, temp-to-hire manufacturing position in Dundee, MI.

This role is responsible for completing die set-ups on a variety of stamping presses, adjusting automated feeding systems, troubleshooting production issues, monitoring tonnage, and ensuring presses are safely and properly prepared for production. The ideal candidate has 2-3+ years of die-setting or progressive stamping experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and hands-on experience with press setup, progressive dies, feeder systems, die protection, and tonnage monitoring. This temp-to-hire opportunity offers experienced manufacturing professionals the chance to demonstrate their skills and work toward a long-term position with the company. What Does a Die Set-Up Technician Do? As a Die Set-Up Technician, you will prepare stamping presses and tooling for production while troubleshooting equipment and process issues.

Responsibilities include:

Perform complete die set-ups on a variety of stamping presses Establish proper press shut height Install, adjust, and align dies for production Set up and release completed press set-ups to production Troubleshoot stamping press and production issues Set up and adjust servo, pneumatic, Rapid-Air, and PA feeder systems Adjust feeder settings including feed length, speed, progression, pilot release, and other parameters Set up and troubleshoot die protection systems, including CIECO, Wintriss, AIDA Smart Die Protection, and SmartPac Pro Set and monitor press tonnage using AIDA, Wintriss, and CIECO systems Assist with basic servo motion programming when needed Work with Quality and Tooling teams to resolve defects and improve manufacturing processes Read and interpret blueprints, production drawings, and manufacturing specifications Use precision measuring instruments to verify tooling and production requirements Support press lubrication and perform light maintenance Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting Follow all MIOSHA and company safety requirements Maintain a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing work area What Are the Requirements for a Die Set-Up Technician? To be successful in this die setter / die setup technician position, you should have: 2-3+ years of die-setting, die setup, or progressive stamping experience Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Experience setting up stamping presses and production tooling Servo feeder and automated feeding-system experience preferred Experience with die protection systems and tonnage monitoring preferred Ability to read blueprints and production drawings Experience using precision measuring instruments Welding, drilling, tapping, and basic machining experience preferred but not required Ability to safely lift, move, and handle tooling and production equipment Forklift certification required or obtainable Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and continuous improvement
