Rewind Operator- 2nd shift Smurfit Westrock - 3.1 Lansing, MI Job Details Full-time 17 hours ago Qualifications Safe work practices Defect detection (quality control) Finished product defect inspection Calibration Labeling Basic math English GMP High school diploma or GED Quality standards in production Machine maintenance Entry level Full Job Description The Opportunity We are seeking a detail‑oriented Unwind / Rewind Operator to inspect and rewind finished label products to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards. This role is critical to verifying product integrity, performing 100% visual inspections, and preparing finished jobs for shipment—particularly within regulated and pharmaceutical environments. The Unwind / Rewind Operator works safely, accurately, and efficiently while adhering to GMP and company procedures. Key Responsibilities Calibrate and operate the tabletop counter. Conduct visual inspections of labels to identify defects. Rewind and slit jobs according to specifications. Splice rolls together using scissors and tape or a splicing table, following customer splicing requirements. Set up and operate 100% visual inspection systems. Prepare core labels, shipper labels, and Certificates of Compliance. Follow pharmaceutical procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including required documentation. Set up and operate back‑numbering equipment. Perform basic system and equipment maintenance. Follow all safety rules and work efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned to support production and quality requirements. What You Need to Succeed High school diploma or GED preferred. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret instructions, correspondence, safety rules, and procedure manuals. Basic math skills, including reading a ruler and performing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. Willingness to work overtime as needed. Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
