3rd Shift Assembly 10:30pm-6:30am Sun-Thursday $17.25/hr Job Description This role focuses on assembling lightweight plastic automotive door and liftgate handles within a clean, high-volume production environment. You work in rotating assembly cells, placing parts into fixtures in the correct order, supporting automated machinery, and performing packing, inspection, and labeling tasks. The position requires consistent productivity, attention to detail, and the ability to stand for extended periods while working 8-10 hour shifts. Responsibilities Assemble interior and exterior door handles and liftgate handles using plastic and small hardware components. Place parts into the correct fixtures in the proper sequence to prepare them for machine-assisted assembly. Rotate through approximately eight assembly cell stations, typically changing stations every two hours, while occasionally remaining at a single station for an entire shift. Start on simpler assembly stations and progressively learn and perform tasks at all stations within the cell. Meet required hourly production targets, maintaining a steady pace and consistent quality in a repetitive work environment. Perform packing duties, including placing assembled parts into appropriate containers and preparing them for shipment. Inspect assembled parts for quality, identifying defects and ensuring all components meet established standards. Label parts and packaging accurately according to production and shipping requirements. Work in molding operations by packing raw plastic parts into totes, sorting components, inspecting for defects, assembling where needed, and trimming excess plastic from freshly molded parts. Support paint-related operations by packing and hanging parts prior to paint application, then inspecting painted and dried parts for defects. Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle lightweight plastic parts with care to prevent damage. Stand and work on your feet for 8-10 hour shifts while performing repetitive tasks in a production environment. Follow all workplace safety procedures and production guidelines to ensure a safe and efficient operation. Essential Skills Experience in general labor or assembly work in a manufacturing or production environment, preferred. Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus, accuracy, and consistent output. Capability to stand for up to 10 hours straight during 8-10 hour shifts. Attention to detail when placing parts into fixtures, inspecting components, and labeling products. Ability to work at a pace that meets or exceeds required hourly production quotas. Willingness and ability to rotate between multiple workstations throughout the shift. High level of reliability and punctuality for shift-based production work. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as assembly, packing, labeling, and inspection. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Prior manufacturing or production experience is preferred but not required. Comfort working with small hardware pieces and lightweight plastic parts. Ability to learn and follow standardized work instructions and quality procedures. Strong work ethic and interest in long-term, career-oriented opportunities in a production environment. Work Environment The role is based in a Tier 1 automotive plastics facility producing interior and exterior door handles and related components. The plant offers a very clean work environment, especially in assembly and paint-related areas where employees handle only dry, finished parts rather than wet paint or heavy materials. Work is performed in 8-10 hour shifts, with 1st shift generally running from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (extended to 4:30 a.m. with overtime), 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. (to 1:30 a.m. with overtime), and 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Employees spend most of the day on their feet, rotating through different stations in assembly, molding, and paint support areas. The facility follows a casual dress code, requiring clothing that is neat, not loose, and free from offensive content. The plant is centrally located in Muskegon with bus lines running nearby, making transportation convenient and accessible Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Muskegon, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $17.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
