Job Description
Sturgis Molded Products is a plastic injection molding company family owned since 1966 located in Sturgis MI. Using the latest technologies in scientific molding coupled with our superior in-house tool design and engineering; we are able to provide innovative and cost effective plastic solutions for one-stop " Total Solutions Molding ." Process Technician Purpose of Position / Core Responsibilities Performs standard plastic injection molding setup functions in accordance with established procedures. Responsible for downloading machine programs, optimizing machine performance to meet established standards, and assisting with mold changes as needed. Maintains primary accountability for the dimensional quality of produced parts. Leads the startup of new jobs, troubleshoots and resolves process issues, and optimizes machine cycles to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production. Primary Responsibilities Ensure Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) targets are achieved every shift. Set up, operate, and troubleshoot manufacturing processes and equipment as needed to support production. Monitor processes and equipment (including RJG-EDART and auxiliary systems), making adjustments to optimize Safety, Quality, Scrap, and Efficiency performance. Assist the Value Stream Leader in identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities. Understand customer cosmetic and dimensional requirements and ensure compliance in all products produced. Recognize cosmetic and dimensional defects, adjust processes within allowable limits to eliminate them, and escalate unresolved issues to the Shift Supervisor. Measure parts for dimensional accuracy using appropriate metrology tools and instruments. Stop production when root causes of defects cannot be resolved and ensure proper escalation. Document and maintain process parameters in accordance with company standards. Perform mold setups, including insert changes and other tooling adjustments as required. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Secondary Responsibilities Serve as back-up to the Value Stream Leader (VSL) during scheduled or unscheduled absences. Partner with the VSL to support and understand shift labor management. Train team members on process operations and material mixing functions.

Minimum 2 years of mold setting and processing experience (required). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Physical Demands Good hand-eye coordination. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequent bending, twisting, and body flexing. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Proficient in using tools required for production setup and maintenance. Measures of Performance Achievement of daily Gemba metrics (area-specific metrics TBD). Performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, benchmarked against "Best in Class" and financial targets. Successful implementation of lean conversions and improvement initiatives. Additional Notes Must successfully complete a background check and drug screen prior to employment.Job Type:
