Temp-to-Hire About the Opportunity Kelly Services is seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our client's team in Traverse City, MI. With over 85 years of success, our client is an industry leader providing high-precision tooling and wear-resistant solutions to the aerospace, energy, and transportation sectors. Job Summary The Machine Operator is responsible for performing critical manufacturing functions to ensure the continuous flow of product within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate various machines (conventional or CNC) regularly on a range of complex parts to close tolerances, including average to complicated setups. Work independently with minimal supervision. Select appropriate feeds, speeds, and tooling for optimal results. Assist in problem-solving and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns and production efficiency issues. Ensure proper materials and tools are available at all times. Support Lean Enterprise, Quality, Safety, and Productivity initiatives. Operate multiple machines to optimize labor costs.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required; technical school training preferred. Excellent blueprint reading skills. 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Versatile machining experience and strong mechanical aptitude highly beneficial. Committed to quality, customer satisfaction, and teamwork. Experience with Lean manufacturing processes is a plus.
Additional Details:
Comprehensive training provided (1-week onboarding program). Steel toe footwear required (composite options accepted). Safety glasses required (self-provided); ear protection not necessary.
