S_180244 We are seeking an experienced CNC Laser Operator to join a growing metal fabrication team in Arlington, MN. In this role, you will set up, run, and maintain high-precision laser cutting equipment used in custom sheet metal manufacturing. You will work directly with blueprints, perform setup adjustments, manage material handling, and ensure finished parts meet strict quality standards. This is a full-time, direct-hire position for a skilled operator who thrives in a fast-paced shop environment. Monday-Friday, 6:30AM-3:30PM, $26-$30/hour

Responsibilities:
Machine Operation & Setup:

Prepare, set up, and run CNC laser equipment for production jobs based on project specs and work orders.

Blueprint Reading & Adjustments:

Interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and CNC programs. Adjust focal lengths, cutting speeds, and gas pressures to match material types and thicknesses.

Material Handling & Processing:

Safely load/unload sheet metal, manage raw stock, and organize finished parts or scrap.

Quality Control:

Perform first-piece and ongoing part inspections using calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to confirm tolerances. Identify and fix defect issues like slag or poor edge finish.

Routine Maintenance:

Complete basic maintenance, change lenses/nozzles, clean optics, and keep machine components running smoothly.

Process Improvement & Leadership:

Assist with nesting and setup optimization. Help train or mentor junior operators as needed.

Safety & Workplace Standards:

Follow OSHA safety procedures, utilize proper PPE, and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Skills:

Direct experience running Amada laser machinery.

Experience with fiber lasers and automated loading systems.

Exposure to CNC programming, CAD/CAM, or nesting software.

Background fabricating with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum sheet metal.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience operating CNC laser cutting machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including a solid grasp of GD&T and tight tolerances.
  • Hands-on experience using precision inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills for process/quality adjustments.
  • Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks.
