Job Description
Overview To provide direct support for extrusion processes, technical and maintenance issues. Ensure that all machinery and the process are functioning in a safe and effective manner. Actively pursue continuous improvement in the extrusion processes. Responsible for working within teams to improve process efficiencies, reduce scrap, improve quality and safety. Duties
- Responsible for the continuous operation of Plant Extrusion lines and equipment.
- Improve Extrusion productivity and reduce scrap.
- Review Extrusion processes for continuous improvement and feasibility; make suggestions and implement approved changes.
- Coordinate engineering releases and changes relative to setting standards, sample submissions, data entry and follow-up.
- Coordinate extrusion die trials.
- Lead lean manufacturing events by utilizing established problem-solving guidelines and identify areas for continuous improvement.
- May lead projects and/or project teams (including assigning work, reviewing progress and evaluating results), mentor, provide guidance and technical direction to less experienced engineering and technical staff, including the provision of input in performance evaluations, but does not supervise.
- Responsible to develop and maintain an effective knowledge of machinery and processes related to area of responsibility.
- Communicate with operators and managers to relate any problems with process, quality and safety.
- Work with Product Engineer to develop design/process changes to increase productivity and reduce cost, scrap and risk assessment associated.
- Work with Extrusion Engineers to develop extrusion dies from design to implementation meeting customer requirements and expectations.
- Assist manufacturing and maintenance in troubleshooting of process/mechanical problems.
- Support manufacturing with open issue development and implementation.
- Support of Quality Engineer by actively pursuing process improvements to reduce process variables and improve quality of product.
- Responsible to keep Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering aware of any issues encountered that may affect safety, quality, cost and productivity.
