This position is responsible for all aspects of operating a flexographic folder-gluer to produce quality product safely and efficiently. This includes setting up, running, inspecting and maintaining the machine in addition to training assistants and helpers.Essential Functions:
Set up, operate, and monitor machine to produce corrugated products and record operational data Review work orders or production schedules to determine: specifications such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, scores and printing; or dimensions and tolerances Select and install machine components such as plates and die boards, using hand tools Adjust guide assemblies, forming bars, and folding mechanisms according to specifications, using hand tools Start machine to verify setups, and make any necessary adjustments Start machines and move controls to regulate tension on pressure rolls, to synchronize speed of machine components, and adjust glue or ink as needed Examine completed work to detect defects and verify conformance to specifications, using measuring devices such as rulers, micrometers, or scales, and adjust machinery as necessary to correct production problems Remove defective or substandard materials from machines, and readjust machine components so that products meet standards; follow designated quality escalation process Stack and sort finished material for packaging, further processing, or shipping, according to specifications Utilize computer to input production data as required Maintain production records, such as quantities, downtime and production issues Move stock or scrap to and from machines manually, or by using carts, hand trucks, or lift trucks Clean and perform preventative maintenance on machine as required Delegate responsibilities to the assistants & helpers and provide ongoing training as needed Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors Performance Measures and Outcomes Adherence to safety policies and procedures Quality of work Production goals Education/Certification High school diploma or equivalent Work Experience Corrugated manufacturing and converting experience desired Flexographic experience desired Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Safety sensitive position- ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business Ability to work on a rotating shift as needed Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles Ability to perform all computer functions as they pertain to the job Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people Quality of Work•is attentive to detail & accuracy, looks for improvements to work processes and takes advantage of tools & resources, finds root cause to quality problems Integrity/Ethics•deals with others in a straightforward and honest manner, is accountable for actions, maintains confidentiality, and demonstrates support of company values Dependability•meets commitments, works independently, and accepts accountability, stays focused under pressure, meets attendance/ punctuality requirements Adaptability/Flexibility•adapts to change and adjusts to meet needs, is open to new ideas, takes on new responsibilities as required Two companies, one vision.
