Job Description

Strapping Operator Manufacturing Waynesboro, Mississippi Description Position at Hood Lumber Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood and lumber manufacturing plants and twenty-three specialty wood product distribution operations located in fifteen states. We are seeking a Strapping Operator position at our sawmill located in Waynesboro, MS. You will be responsible for operating the strapping machine and printing tickets. If you have manufacturing experience, we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
Commitment to working safely and following safety rules/procedures. Operates strapping machine from a touch screen. Print lumber tickets and attach them to the lumber pack. Reads measurements for proper band placement. Replaces strapping rolls on machine. Performs weekly/daily maintenance and preventive maintenance. Performs general housekeeping on machines and working area.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma/GED preferred. 1-2 years of manufacturing experience. Ability to understand, clearly communicate, and follow all safety rules and policies. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Ability to make decisions quickly utilizing hand, eye, and foot coordination. Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Physical Requirements:
Performs tasks such as walking, climbing steps/ladders, sitting, and standing for long periods. Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs. Ability to work outside in all conditions, in and around loud equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the work shift.
Pay Rate:
$18.65/per hour
