Helper Piedmont Metals of Burlington Inc - 2.3 Burlington, NC Job Details $18 - $19 an hour 2 days ago Qualifications Basic math Forklift Bridge crane operation Lifts and hoists Material handling equipment operation Full Job Description Job Summary Piedmont Metals is seeking a dependable Fabrication Helper to support production operations by preparing materials, organizing parts, and assisting fabrication personnel throughout the manufacturing process. This position plays an important role in ensuring production teams have the materials, components, and support needed to maintain workflow and meet production schedules. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, hardworking, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Previous experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or material handling is preferred but not required. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Collect, organize, and prepare materials, parts, and components for production. Verify materials are complete, properly identified, and ready for fabrication. Clean and organize steel parts before and after fabrication processes. Remove slag, spatter, debris, and other contaminants from welded parts to ensure quality finishes. Operate hand tools, grinders, and power tools to prepare materials and finished products. Assist welders and fabrication personnel by moving, positioning, and securing materials. Assist with loading and unloading materials used in production. Safely transport materials throughout the facility using forklifts, cranes, or other approved equipment. Label, organize, and stage materials for production use. Maintain clean and organized work areas, storage locations, and production zones. Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Support production operations and perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous manufacturing, fabrication, warehouse, or production experience preferred. Forklift operating experience preferred. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Basic math skills required. Ability to read and write effectively. Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools. Strong work ethic and reliable attendance. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the workday. Regularly lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise. Ability to safely operate forklifts, lulls, and overhead cranes when authorized. Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing and fabrication environment and requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
