Job Description

A yarn machine operator oversees and operates equipment used to process, spin, wind, or twist fibers into usable yarn or thread. They are responsible for setting up machines, maintaining quality control, and ensuring safe, efficient production flow. A comprehensive job description generally includes the following core components:
Key Responsibilities Machine Operation & Setup:
Thread yarn, thread, and fiber through machine guides, rollers, and needles. Start, stop, and adjust operating parameters like speed, tension, and patterns.
Quality Control:
Continuously monitor production for defects, breaking threads, or texture issues. Perform weight checks and inspect manufactured spools or rolls.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Perform routine machine maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating parts. Identify and resolve jams, thread breaks, or minor malfunctions.
Material Handling:
Load and unload raw materials and ensure the correct yarn lots are being fed into the machine.
Documentation:
Record production data, scrap rates, and equipment uptime.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Previous experience in textile manufacturing, fiber extrusion, or continuous production environments.
Physical Capabilities:
Ability to stand, walk, and perform hands-on work for long periods, as well as lift heavy materials (typically up to 45 lbs).
Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude, basic computer skills, and attention to detail.
Schedule:
8p-8a Must be able to work 6 days straight with 4 days off.
