Pay:

$20.00 - $22.00 per hour Job description: Job Overview As a Fabric Handcutter, you will be a vital part of our High Point team, utilizing your core skill in precision to accurately measure, mark, and cut upholstery fabric pieces using shears or electric knives based on patterns and work orders. The primary responsibilities include maximizing material yield, inspecting fabrics to identify defects, ensuring accurate alignment (such as patterns and stripes), and preparing cut pieces for the sewing department.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Cutting & Pattern Usage:

Precisely cut fabric, leather, or vinyl to specified dimensions, employing patterns or templates to guarantee correct shapes and sizes for upholstery.

Fabric Inspection:

Examine fabric for any defects, flaws, stains, or damages, confirming that dye lots are consistent.

Material Optimization:

Position templates strategically to maximize yield, minimizing waste and ensuring optimal use of materials.

Pattern Matching:

Ensure correct alignment of patterns, stripes, or the direction of nap/pile on fabrics.

Documentation & Inventory:

Interpret work orders for special instructions, mark identification numbers on cut pieces, and track yardage used.

Bundling & Organization:

Group cut parts together and organize them for the sewing or production team.

Tool Maintenance:

Safely operate and maintain hand tools, such as electric knives, scissors, or shears. Other duties as assigned by Manager to assist in other

Requirements & Skills:

Experience:

Prior experience in furniture cutting, upholstery, or apparel is preferred, typically ranging from 1 to 5 years.

Physical Ability:

Capacity to stand for extended periods, lift heavy fabric rolls up to 50lbs. , and navigate a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Tools:

Familiarity with manual cutting tools such as electric hand cutter. Ability to read a ruler

Skills:

Exceptional attention to detail, ability to read work orders, and strong hand-eye coordination.

Safety Focused:

Must adhere to all Safety rules and requirements and take adequate control measures to prevent injuries to yourself and others. Wear required PPE. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must have your own reliable transportation. Must have strong English language skills
