Job Description
About the Role As a Metal Casting Specialist, you will play a critical role in the production of high-performance components by mastering the application of molten alloys. You will utilize your expertise in foundry operations to ensure that every bearing meets rigorous quality standards, directly impacting the reliability of large-scale rotating equipment. Responsibilities Execute precise babbitt application using both static and spin casting techniques to ensure superior bond integrity. Perform comprehensive cleaning and disassembly of fluid film bearings to prepare surfaces for high-quality casting. Operate grit blasting equipment to achieve necessary surface profiles for optimal material adhesion. Manage furnace and melting pot temperatures to maintain consistent metallurgical properties throughout the casting cycle. Utilize overhead cranes and rigging to safely maneuver heavy components within the foundry environment. Interpret complex technical drawings, routings, and process sheets to ensure manufacturing accuracy. Perform TIG welding and fabrication tasks to support the repair and assembly of bearing components. Maintain a safe, organized workspace while adhering to strict thermal and material handling protocols. Qualifications Required Skills Proven experience working within a foundry or industrial casting environment. Demonstrated proficiency with molten metal application and furnace operations. Strong understanding of ferrous and non-ferrous material properties. Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and process documentation. Experience with TIG welding and metal fabrication techniques. Physical capability to perform manual tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in hot environments. Preferred Skills Prior experience operating acetylene torches for heating or cutting applications. Familiarity with die cast machine operation or similar high-volume casting technologies. Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot process deviations independently. Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in a fast-paced manufacturing team.
