Position Summary We are seeking a dependable Woodworking Machine Room Operator to support furniture-frame production in our manufacturing facility. This position works with a variety of woodworking machines to cut, shape, bore and prepare lumber components according to patterns, measurements and production specifications. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, attentive to detail and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Previous woodworking or machine-operation experience is preferred, but training may be available for applicants with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate woodworking equipment used to cut, shape, drill and prepare lumber components. Equipment may include band saws, rip saws, cutoff saws, boring machines and other production machinery. Select and position lumber correctly before beginning each operation. Check completed parts for proper dimensions, shape and workmanship. Move lumber and finished components between racks, workstations and production areas. Make routine machine adjustments within the employee's training and authorization. Turn off equipment during breaks, lunch periods and at the end of the shift. Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area. Report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately. Follow all company safety rules, machine-operating procedures and production standards. Assist in other machine-room or production areas as needed. Qualifications Previous woodworking, furniture-manufacturing or machine-operation experience is preferred. Experience operating one or more woodworking machines is a plus. Ability to read a tape measure and follow basic patterns and production instructions. Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn different machines. Ability to recognize quality issues and maintain consistent workmanship. Ability to work safely and productively with limited supervision. Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a production team. Reliable transportation to Randleman, North Carolina. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Ability to stand and operate machinery for most of the shift. Ability to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull materials. Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements. Ability to move lumber and components safely between storage racks, machines and work surfaces. Working Conditions This position is performed indoors in a ventilated lumber and woodworking manufacturing facility. Employees may be exposed to wood dust, machinery noise and other conditions normally associated with a production environment. Employees must wear all personal protective equipment required for the assigned machine or task.
