Job Description

McCombs Steel Company has a long history in Statesville, NC as an AISC certified steel fabrication company. McCombs was founded in 1929 and has evolved into one of the leading US contractors providing structural steel packages for warehouse buildings. With its growth, McCombs has a great opportunity for someone to grow with the company and develop their skills in this position. This will be an hourly position. •This is a first shift position with 11 hour shifts from 6am - 5pm. Potential for overtime on a regular basis.
CURRENTLY WORKING 60 HOUR WEEKS DUE TO PRODUCTION SCHEDULE
•Job Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed. Set up machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.) to start a production cycle Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed) Feed raw materials or parts to semi-automated machines Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools, ensuring conformance with shop drawings and AISC standards Test operation of machines periodically Fix issues that might occur during the shift Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws Load, unload, stack, and discard of structural steel materials onto/off conveyors, tables, and pallets by hand or by using material handling equipment (e.g. overhead cranes) Maintain a clean and safe work area Qualifications & Skills Prior relevant experience with CNC machinery strongly desired. Ability to drive a forklift preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization. Quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Keen attention to detail to identify maintenance, product or operations issues. Ability to read and understand shop drawings. Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to stand or perform repetitive movements for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Ability to read a tape measure required. Must possess strong work ethic. Must be a team player. High school diploma or GED required. Characteristics Desired Detail oriented Quick learner Enthusiastic Dedicated Reliability Positive attitude
