Job Summary:
Sew rolls of fabric requiring the same finishing process together.
Tools and Equipment used:
Motorized equipment, general office supplies, LXE gun, scissors, dryers, detwister, and platers (a. k. a. lappers).
Essential Functions:
Perform the following duties according to
ISO 9001
work instructions and standards: Determine cloth to be plated and pull order according to tickets. Arrange tickets to match the order in which fabric is sewn together Pull cloth tightly between pins and sew together in straight seams, preventing bow and bias. Make sure fabric goes through the frame and folds into buggy or rolls unto T frame without getting twisted. If fabric becomes twisted or something happens to the rollers at the top of the plater, use the ladder provided to reach and correct the problem. Move fabric to the next process. Work scheduled overtime. Perform other duties as assigned. Keep the work area and equipment clean and free from safety hazards. Maintain proper housekeeping. Operate equipment properly. Report malfunctions or maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
Safety:
Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers. Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately. Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards. Safety belt/harness when using PIT. Maintain 5 S standards.
Qualifications:
Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others. Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Be able to follow special instructions and directions. Forklift license is required for moving buggies and lifting fabric to storage tubes. Basic computer skills and use of LXE gun.
