1/2026 Description Position is responsible for set up and operating of saw to accurately cut lumber to specific lengths and angles as specified for each job order. The position may also be responsible for stacking and banding the cut materials and pushing cut lumber on carts to appropriate staging area. Position also is to provide the proper support to the saw crew through coordination of personnel, problem solving, teaching, material flow, and physical involvement toward the goal of improving efficiency.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Get schedule from Foreman 2. Read and interpret work orders and production schedules (typed, handwritten, computer screen). 3. Select and enter data using the Saw computer system. 4. Retrieve specified lumber and transfer lumber onto saw bed. 5. Operate saw to cut lumber to length and angle per job order specifications. 6. Use tape measure to verify specifications. 7. Lift and stack product onto lumber carts. 8. Complete continuous quality review throughout processes to meet quality and accuracy requirements including dimensions, lumber grades, and building process. 9. Perform daily stretch and flex prior to starting job duties. 10. Perform standardized cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work area. 11. Report any equipment and product deficiencies or safety concerns to Foreman. 12. Follow all established company procedures and safety standards. 13. Properly wear and maintain all required PPE at all times in designated areas including steel toed boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, rubber palm gloves. 14. Comply with OSHA requirements and established company safety policies and procedures. 15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Section Lead and Shop Foreman. 16. Fill out forms (overrides, maintenance requests, plate sub sheets, Etc.)Safety Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment in a safe manner consistent with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Recognize and avoid hazards including rotating blades, pinch points, moving material, noise exposure, and airborne debris.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and never operate equipment that is locked or tagged out.
- Use proper lifting techniques and request assistance or team lifting when required.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, equipment issues, and near-miss incidents.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings and exercise stop-work authority if unsafe conditions exist.
- Participate in safety training, stretch and flex programs, and continuous improvement of workplace safety.
- Follow all machine guarding requirements and never bypass safety devices. Competencies
- Knowledge of company products, production processes and product standards
- Skilled in use of all tools and equipment used for component manufacture at location
- Ability to execute plans/projects through others
- Good verbal and written communication skills Minimum Requirements High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and one (1) year experience performing and coordinating construction manufacturing activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Truss manufacturing experience desired. Work Environment/Physical Activity
- Work is performed within a shop environment, subject to temperature variations, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 75 pounds.
- May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.
- Repetitive motion and material handling are required; employee must use safe body mechanics at all times.
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hourBenefits:
