This position involves working with a small group of Sawyers focusing on regenerative cutting and clean-up efforts within our special use permit area and partner areas in the surrounding community. Applicants must demonstrate either proficient cutting techniques or the willingness and ability to learn such techniques promptly. Candidates should also anticipate working alongside heavy equipment and be comfortable around heavy equipment operations.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Safely and efficiently conduct cutting operations using chainsaws and other cutting tools Assess and prioritize areas affected by blowdown and fallen trees for clean-up Situational Awareness while working around heavy equipment, including but not limited to skid loaders and excavators, to move and pile debris Collaborate with a team to ensure effective coordination and completion of assigned tasks. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to help prevent accidents and maintain a safe work environment. Assist in the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment as needed. Monitor and report any potential hazards, equipment issues, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills related to forestry and equipment operations. Assist Summer Operations with any priority projects, even those that do not directly deal with forestry. Assist Summer Operations in any medical emergencies that require extra help.

Qualifications/Knowledge:
Experience working in remote and austere environments Experience using Chainsaws and other cutting tools Experience working in small teams in alpine environments Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Work Environment:
Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.
Physical Demands of Position Include:
Working in an austere alpine environment, wearing heavy packs exceeding 25 lbs and cutting on steep, rocky slopes, candidates must be comfortable carrying chainsaws (20 lbs +), fuel, and pounders. Days can exceed 8 hours outside, and candidates must be prepared to work in inclement weather.
