Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description The Machine Operator sets up, operates, and changes over repack line machinery in a food manufacturing environment, ensuring accurate case counts, correct bag weights, and consistent product quality. This role performs minor repairs, verifies metal-detector accuracy, and maintains safe, clean work conditions while working on a fast-paced production line. Success in this position relies on prior machine-operation experience, strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Responsibilities Set up, start, and operate repack line machinery according to production requirements and safety standards. Perform changeovers on equipment to accommodate different products, packaging formats, or case sizes. Adjust machine settings to maintain proper bag weights, seal quality, and overall product consistency. Monitor equipment during operation to identify irregularities, defects, or quality issues and take corrective action promptly. Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments to address jams, errors, and other equipment issues during production. Verify case counts, labeling, and packaging accuracy to meet production and quality specifications. Check and verify metal-detector accuracy and document results as required by quality and safety procedures. Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with food manufacturing and workplace safety standards. Follow all standard operating procedures, quality guidelines, and safety protocols throughout the shift. Communicate effectively with team members, quality, and maintenance personnel to coordinate production and resolve issues. Stand for long shifts and safely lift up to 50 lbs as needed to complete production tasks. Essential Skills Proven machine operator experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to set up, adjust, and troubleshoot machinery. Mechanical troubleshooting skills to quickly resolve jams, equipment errors, and workflow interruptions. Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments on production equipment. Solid attention to detail to spot defects, verify case counts, and ensure proper bag weights. Effective problem-solving skills to maintain smooth and efficient line operation. Capability to stand for extended periods during the shift. Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs as part of regular job duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with food manufacturing or packaging equipment is beneficial. Comfort working in a fast-paced, production-focused environment. Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams. Work Environment This position is based in a clean, well-lit, temperature-controlled food manufacturing facility. The operation uses multiple food-processing and packaging technologies, including preserved and frozen product lines. The standard schedule for this role is on the 2nd shift, Monday through Saturday, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The work is performed on a production floor with active machinery and conveyor systems, where adherence to food safety and workplace safety procedures is essential. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
