Position Summary:

The Brushing Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring brushing equipment used in the surface finishing of metal products. This role ensures products meet surface texture, cleanliness, and quality specifications while maintaining efficiency and safety standards. Operators collaborate with team members, quality inspectors, engineering, and maintenance staff to achieve production goals in a clean, safe, and organized environment.

Essential Job Duties:

• Set up and operate brushing machines according to production orders and specifications.
• Load and position metal materials into equipment for brushing, polishing, or surface cleaning.
• Adjust machine settings (speed, pressure, brush type) to achieve required surface finishes.
• Monitor process parameters and machine operation to ensure consistency and product quality.
• Inspect finished materials using visual checks and precision tools to verify compliance with surface quality standards.
• Record production data, inspection results, and material usage in work orders and/or ERP systems.
• Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on brushing equipment.
• Operate cranes, hoists, or forklifts to move raw materials and finished products.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas while following all company safety rules.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist with brush changes, tooling setup, and lubrication adjustments.
• Support troubleshooting and corrective actions to resolve equipment or process issues.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for quality, efficiency, and safety.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in metals manufacturing, surface finishing, or heavy machine operation preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to perform minor equipment adjustments and maintenance.
• Ability to read work instructions, production orders, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (calipers, gauges, micrometers).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Requirements/Safety:

• Ability to work in hot, noisy, and industrial environments.
• Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. safely.
• Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, and hearing protection.

Pay Details:
