The Saw Operator is responsible for pulling material, verifying, and processing material through band saw and plate saws. This position will perform all work order requirements, meeting all production lead time and quality control measures, while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities:

Sets up and operates band saws to cut aluminum, alloy, stainless steels, titanium, and other exotic metals to specified dimensions. Reads work order for specifications, like material, type and size of stock and dimensions to be cut. Retrieves material and transfers stock to band saws manually, with forklift, or by crane. Installs saw blade in band saws and sets blade cutting speed for specified operation. Removal of band saw blades. Inputs data to set band saw parameters based on shop work order specifications. May manually position material using back stops in band saw. Turns valve to start flow of coolant against cutting area. Operates band saws and observes cutting operation. Measures work for conformance to specifications, using ruler, tape measure, and measuring calipers. Marks identifying data on product. Moves material with forklift. Moves material with crane. Data Input into computer inventory system. Follows all quality inspections and quality requirements in regard to work orders and Quality Procedure Manual. Follows all work instructions pertaining to job. Follows all JSA's for equipment worked. Follows all Safety Procedures Physical Requirements Walk(Move, Traverse), Use hand/fingers to handle or feel (Operate, Activate, Use, Prepare, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position), Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance (Ascend/Descend, Work atop, Traverse), Stoop, kneel, crouch, or Crawl(Position self(to), Move), Talk/hear(Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information), See (Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess), Pushing or Pulling, Reaching, Repetitive Motion Function in the Job Medium/Heavy work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Required Skills High school diploma or equivalent minimum Ability to quickly learn multiple functions in a complex industry. Must be able to work in a team environment. Knowledge of operating industrial equipment, Band Saws preferred. Ability to communicate well with others. Good mathematical skills including measurements. Ability to use and read measuring equipment such as calipers and measuring tapes. Ability to be able to operate a crane. Ability to be able to operate a forklift. Self-motivated and can act on own initiative. Experienced working to targets and deadlines. Adaptable and have a positive attitude towards change. Motivated, communicative and goal oriented. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
