Hard hatSafety glassesHearing protectionSteel-toed footwearGlovesAdditional department-specific protective equipment Job DescriptionThe General Laborer performs a variety of manual labor and production support duties throughout the pipe foundry. This position assists in the manufacturing, handling, inspection, finishing, and movement of cast iron pipe and related products while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Employees may be assigned to various departments based on operational needs and seniority in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.



Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform general labor tasks in support of foundry and pipe manufacturing operations.



Assist with molding, melting, casting, finishing, cleaning, coating, and shipping processes.



Handle, move, stack, and prepare materials, castings, and finished products.



Operate basic production equipment and tools following established procedures and training.



Inspect products for defects and notify supervision of quality concerns.



Remove excess material, grind castings, clean work areas, and perform finishing operations.



Assist operators, maintenance personnel, and production teams as needed.



Load and unload materials, supplies, and finished products.



Maintain housekeeping standards and keep work areas clean and organized.



Follow production schedules and work instructions to meet quality and productivity standards.



Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and work rules.



Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.



Operational tasks in compliance with established Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure the safe isolation of hazardous energy sources before servicing, maintaining, or entering equipment.



Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the bargaining unit classification.



Safety ResponsibilitiesFollow all company safety policies, procedures, and work rules.



Properly use and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).Comply with all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and hazardous energy control requirements.



Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and injuries.

Maintain a clean and orderly work area to support a safe work environment.

Ability to frequently bend, stoop, squat, kneel, push, pull, and climb.



Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier loads with assistance.



Ability to perform repetitive tasks using hands and arms.



Ability to demonstrate full upper body range of motion, including reaching overhead, reaching forward, extending arms, and performing tasks requiring shoulder, arm, wrist, and hand mobility.
