Shift:
Mondays 4:55pm-1:30am and Tuesday-Thursday 2:55pm-1:30am Training will be on 1st shift: Tuesday-Friday 4:55am-3:05pm Brook & Whittle is a leading North American provider of sustainable labeling solutions, partnering with top consumer brands and offering a collaborative, innovative culture where you can take pride in creating the labels you see on store shelves every day. The Flexible Packaging Operator (FPO) will report directly to the Hamilton Flexible Packaging Manager and will be responsible for safely and efficiently setting up and operating the Slitter, Laminator, and Pouch lines to ensure the highest quality flexible packaging for our customers.
Pay and Benefits Pay:
$21.55-$27.70/hour with a $1.00 shift differential when working 2nd shift hours Competitive pay, medical benefits, life insurance, paid time off, 401(k) with company participation, and a wide range of elective company benefits Essential Functions and Responsibilities Set up and operate the laminator and slitter to form laminated flexible packaging for the pouch lines or customer finished roll stock. Set up and operate the pouch machines to form pouches of printed and clear laminated flexible films. Check Quality at set-up and during manufacturing process. Assure quality checks, tests, and procedures are carried out as required during the production runs. Sign-off on adhesive mixture balance and coat weight for each lamination run at set-up as well as periodical checks during production of the same elements. Sign-off on measurements for each dimension of pouch at set-up as well as testing seal strength & die line approval. Perform periodical checks during production of the same elements. Read job tickets for information related to the set up and operation of the production order. Must have the ability to understand the job specifications to ensure the finished roll stock and pouches meet the required dimensions from customer approved template. Identify defects found in the material and communicate with the packer to cull the affected pouches. Responsible for quality control of laminated films, slit rolls and pouches. Make machine adjustments as required quickly to minimize material and time waste. Operate within the standard operation procedures. Ensure equipment is running with all safety equipment operational in a safe condition. Perform other duties as assigned in the Flexible Packaging Cell on other pieces of equipment. Must follow and adhere to outlined GMP procedures in relation to direct food contact packaging. Ensure equipment is running with all safety equipment operational in a safe condition. Perform minor maintenance to machines and various equipment. Use hand tools effectively and appropriately. Perform other duties as assigned in the Flexible Packaging Cell or other Departments. Requirements Ability to work well in a team-based manufacturing environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards Ability to meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment Willingness to work overtime, rotating shifts, and weekends or holidays as needed Ability to distinguish color variations Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check Education and Experience Previous Pouch Converting industry experience is a plus but not required. At least 2 years of machine operating experience is required. HS Diploma or GED required. Previous related experience preferred. Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals; OSHA safety standards enforced. Prolonged standing, walking, and repetitive tasks requiring bending, reaching, and stooping. Ability to operate equipment and visually inspect product. Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly. Work Authorization Must be eligible to work in the United States without restriction.
