Machine Operator Position Summary The Machine Operator is responsible for operating fabrication equipment used to cut, form, and prepare metal components for welding and fabrication projects. This role plays an important part in keeping production moving efficiently and ensuring parts are prepared accurately for the shop team. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication environment. Machine Operator Key Responsibilities Operate fabrication equipment such as saws, ironworkers, drill presses, and other shop machinery Load and unload materials including structural steel and plate Measure and verify material dimensions using tape measures and other measuring tools Follow prints, work orders, and job instructions to prepare materials for fabrication Maintain accurate part counts and material identification Assist welders and fabricators by preparing materials for production Monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality and safety standards are met Perform basic machine maintenance and maintain a clean work area Follow all shop safety procedures and wear required PPE Machine Operator Qualifications Previous manufacturing or fabrication shop experience preferred Ability to read a tape measure and basic prints Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate shop equipment Strong attention to detail Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Machine Operator Physical Requirements Ability to stand for the entire shift Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling of materials Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and varying temperatures Machine Operator Work Environment This position operates in a metal fabrication shop environment. Employees work around steel materials, welding operations, overhead cranes, forklifts, and industrial machinery. Proper PPE is required. Steel-toed boots are required. $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
