Job Description

Job Title:
Compounder | $19-21 HR | 1st Shift Job Description This role focuses on accurately compounding liquid spray tan solutions and related skincare products by following detailed batch tickets and standard operating procedures. You will weigh and mix raw materials, operate pumps and tanks, and support daily production goals while maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Weigh raw materials according to batch sheets and batch tickets, ensuring accurate measurements and conversions for each formula. Check and verify pre-weighed raw materials for batches to confirm accuracy before production begins. Manufacture a variety of batches based on production needs, including spray tan solutions and lotions used before and after spray tanning. Provide in-process and finished product samples to the quality department to obtain quality control approvals before release. Transfer bulk product from tanks into totes, drums, and pails, completing required transfers by the end of each shift. Add pre-weighed powder additives to large vats for compounding liquid spray tan products, ensuring correct sequencing and mixing. Inspect and confirm that tanks are properly cleaned and ready for use prior to compounding; work with tanks ranging from 500 to 2,500 gallons. Use pumps to transfer liquid from one drum or tank to another, monitoring flow and ensuring safe, efficient transfers. Prepare and monitor batches that require heating, cooling, or pressure, adjusting conditions as needed to meet process specifications. Climb an 8-foot work platform ladder with handrails to access and visually inspect large tanks during the compounding process. Unload 500-gallon drums from delivery trucks and use a tow motor to move and store them on high shelves as needed. Review all batch records carefully and follow specific recipes and processes precisely, including proper stirring, heating, cooling, and pressure application. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure product quality and compliance. Perform physically demanding tasks such as stooping, bending, reaching, carrying, and lifting up to 60 pounds, including continuous lifting for periods up to 40 minutes. Roll heavy drums on and off pallets, frequently handling weights between 200 and 600 pounds using proper techniques and equipment. Collaborate with a small, experienced compounding team to meet daily production targets and maintain a positive, supportive work environment. Maintain a clean and organized work area, promptly addressing spills and ensuring equipment and tools are stored properly. Essential Skills Ability to calculate conversions and measurements for weighing ingredients accurately. Experience following batch tickets or recipes in a manufacturing, compounding, or mixing environment. At least 1 year of experience with compounding or batch mixing. Ability to lift up to 50-60 pounds and perform frequent physical activities such as stooping, bending, reaching, and carrying. Capability to roll drums weighing between 200 and 600 pounds on and off pallets using safe handling practices. Comfort working at height on an 8-foot ladder with a platform and handrails to access large tanks. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs and GMP requirements precisely. Reliability in meeting daily production expectations and completing tasks by the end of each shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications Tow motor (forklift) experience is a plus. Experience operating pumps or liquid transfer equipment is a plus. Familiarity with manufacturing of liquid products such as spray tan solutions, lotions, or skincare items is beneficial. Comfort working with heated batches and monitoring temperature or process conditions. Willingness to learn and progress through a tiered compounder system with increasing responsibilities. Ability to work effectively in a small, tenured team environment. Why Work Here? You join a clean, stable, and growth-oriented organization that blends beauty, science, and technology to create high-end skincare and spray solutions. The company offers a structured, tiered pay system with clear paths for advancement, allowing you to increase your earnings as you develop new skills—even while working in a contract-to-hire capacity. You benefit from strong total rewards, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, fully paid life and disability insurance with a short waiting period, a 401(k) with company match up to 4%, and 10 paid holidays once hired permanently. The culture emphasizes long-term tenure, with many employees choosing to stay and take advantage of ongoing development opportunities, monthly employee appreciation events, and occasional provided lunches. You also gain exposure to innovative skincare and beauty technologies, including demo booths and a growing product line that extends beyond spray tanning, all within a company that is actively shaping the future of beauty and wellness. Work Environment You work in a very clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment focused on full-body skincare and spray solutions. The compounding department is small, with a team of four tenured colleagues who collaborate closely and maintain a positive, supportive atmosphere. The facility uses large 500-2,500 gallon tanks, pumps, drums, totes, and spray-related equipment, as well as tow motors for moving 500-gallon drums to high storage locations. The work is physically demanding, involving regular lifting up to 60 pounds, rolling heavy drums, and climbing an 8-foot ladder with a platform and handrails to access tank openings. The environment has a light odor similar to over-the-counter self-tanning creams or lotions. The schedule is a first-shift role, Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with potential Friday shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. as needed. The broader organization powers millions of spray treatments annually through a global network of salons, spas, fitness clubs, and beauty professionals, and leverages industry-leading tanning equipment and spray booths. Dress expectations align with a clean, production-focused setting, prioritizing safety, comfort, and compliance with GMP and SOP requirements.
