JOB SUMMARY
The Rewinder is directly responsible for performing finishing operations on printed label rolls, ensuring product quality and compliance with customer specifications. This role operates rewind equipment to convert post-press label rolls into finished, customer-ready products while maintaining quality standards, production efficiency, and accuracy throughout the finishing process.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Review and interpret job tickets for accuracy & completeness, including verification of customer requirements, material specifications, and finishing instructions (core size, wind direction, roll quantity, labels per roll, and other customer specifications). Set up and operate rewind equipment to produce finished, customer-ready label rolls. Monitor machine performance during production and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency. Provide samples in the job packet Document production data including job logs, material usage, and inspection results accurately and in real-time. Inspect finished product for quality, accuracy, and defects by comparing product to approved samples and customer specifications. Assist in training new personnel as requested Perform basic troubleshooting and routine preventative maintenance on rewind equipment Cleaning of equipment to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime. Identify and escalate quality concerns or machine malfunctions to supervisors or maintenance personnel as needed. Ensure proper handling of materials and finished goods to minimize waste and prevent damage. Follow all plant safety rules and participate in safety initiatives and training. Complete work in a timely fashion on schedule to meet our customers' needs Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma/Equivalent (or in process of earning) required, Basic math and computer skills required. 1 -2 years of experience in a printing, packaging, or manufacturing environment. Prior experience operating rewinders, slitter/finishers, or digital finishing equipment is a strong plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Strong mechanical aptitude Problem solving skills needed to assess production problems and determine the appropriate course of action to produce a quality label and meet customer demands Excellent attention to detail and quality focus Ability to read a ruler and interpret work instructions, measurement tools, and job tickets. Basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division) and computer skills including data entry Good hand eye coordination and color perception Ability to read, write, and understand English Communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels within the production team Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to operate a forklift & become forklift certified Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, and able to push/pull/flip up to 150 pounds with or without accommodation.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push, pull, or maneuver materials weighing up to 150 pounds. This position requires standing for extended periods, frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive hand movements in a production environment. The incumbent must be able to read and follow work instructions accurately, maintain attention to detail, adapt to changing priorities, and work efficiently to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.

CHARACTER OF SUPERVISION
The job of Rewinder reports to shift Supervisor who is overseen by the Operations Manager.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The working environment consists primarily of a manufacturing facility and office areas. The position is regularly exposed to noise and moving machinery and may occasionally encounter odors, fumes, mechanical hazards, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing environment.
